Beef beats Beefy at Lindrick
Sir Ian Botham flew in to Lindrick early on Wednesday morning to play the third hole of his endurance challenge in which he plays a hole in each of the 18 counties that have a first class cricket team - in 24 hours!
Arriving by helicopter and rushing straight to the first tee his opponent, another Beef, European Tour Pro Andrew 'Beef' Johnson smashed his drive to within 70 yards of the green and as the picture suggests, Sir Ian made an appropriate and complimentary comment.......
Beefy was not as lucky as his drive ended in the gorse to left of the fairway bunker. In trying to play his second shot he experienced the prickles from the gorse in a very sensitive area and his hillarious reaction was captured by the Sky Sports TV cameras and broadcast later that morning on Sky Sports News.
Beef won the hole to go 2 up but the challenge was to end all square at the 18th in Middlesex which was played in darkness following delays due to helicopter issues later in the day. The challenge was in aid of the Beefy Charity Foundation which funds projects relevant to illness and other challenges facing young people.
